#51 - Nané
As they rounded the bottom of the hill, a tumbling chaos of leaves and branches crashed out of the little pocket of woodland. Nané looked back to see their pursuers stumbling against each other, their own riders being thrown this way and that.
“They’re right on top of us!” Gita shouted. “Faster!”
Newly uplifted, Nané is a cat of the Gyb duchy. Together with her friend and rider Gita, she needs to prove her worth to the rest of the armed forces. But both Gita and Nané are young, and have a lot to learn about the world...
This is part of the worldbuilding I've been doing for my new book, Claws of the Chimera. Gita is one of the point of view characters, though in the novel we meet her several years after this story takes place.
As always, I would love to collaborate with you! If you have short fiction that you would like me to include as a standalone episode of Pocket Fiction, drop me a line!
