#91 - Noctis Point, Chapter 25

“They call you Shrike. Your operatives. You’ve never actually told me why.”

“The Shrike is a butcher bird. It stabs its prey onto thorns and spikes, then eats them. It’s like a stockpile of food, and makes it easier for the bird to eat.”

Sera ran her finger along the seam of the slicksuit and it peeled off her, flowing down into a black puddle of silky material on the floor. Ariadne turned away and busied herself looking at the pictures of the psych, Rasputin, trying to fix his face in her memory. Slicksuits were best worn next to skin, with nothing beneath them - a fact she was suddenly acutely aware of...

Her mission complete, Ariadne returns to the Imperial Palace. There are still many holes in her knowledge, but her handmaid Sera holds the largest piece to the puzzle...
