#55 - Progress
“Who the bloody hell are you?”
I’M DEATH, Death said. His gaze roamed around the garage, gaslight shining off the polished skull. I’M SORRY, YOUR NAME WAS...?
“Horace. Horace Goodfellow. But look, see here,” I said, but my bluster died before I could get any momentum going. “You’re... you’re really Death?”
A short steampunk story, part of Steampunktober here at Pocket Fiction. A Victorian inventor discovers that he has a secret admirer, and it's Death. But why is the End of All Things so interested in his work?
It's tough to personify Death these days without leaking into either Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman; between them, they've done a pretty good job of giving Death a character!
I wrote this piece as part of Steampunktober, an entire month of Steampunk-related audio podcasts. This month saw the release of short story anthology 'Cogs In Time 3', in which I have a short story. It's a series of steampunk stories, each one by a different author, and I can't wait to get my teeth into it! You can get your copy here!
As always, I would love to collaborate with you! If you have short fiction that you would like me to include as a standalone episode of Pocket Fiction, drop me a line!
Each track is also available as a podcast through the iTunes store.
Thanks for listening! Ideas? Suggestions? Things you would like me to read? Please comment and subscribe!
